Is It Fall Yet?

So you’re sitting at your computer, browsing the Harvest for Kids website, (like you do every day), and you think to yourself, “I wonder how many combines have committed to the event so far?” Great question, currently we have about 110 combines that are committed to our event with many more who haven’t given us a concrete yes or no answer.  We’ve got combines of all colours coming from far and near, including people showing interest of bringing combines from over 1000km away!  The numbers are continually rising as we work on various details of the event to make it a great experience for all who come.

As always, all your ideas are welcome, even if you think it might be too crazy or farfetched, we’d still like to hear it.  All of you out there with pictures and videos from the last event in 2006 we would love to see them uploaded on the Facebook fan page to get a “fan’s eye view” of the event.

We need all of you to keep spreading the word and give that extra little push to those you know, (even those you may not know), who are hemming and hawing about entering their combine.

We can’t do this without your help.

Not Just A 10 Minute Event?

Before you read this, please get your calculator. You’ll want to make sure I’m calculating this correctly. Ok…… If each of the 210 combines harvests approximately a 1/4 mile swath and runs at about 2 mph, we should finish our harvest in 7-1/2 minutes (Yes, that will beat our current record as well as set a Guinness World RecordTM).

What should we do the rest of the day?

We look forward to spending the entire day with you at the World Harvest for Kids! Our ZuCamp tent will be running with children’s activites. Come and check out our on line camp world and enjoy other kids’ entertainment while you are there. Be sure to visit our farm show. Dealers and manufacturers of the finest products in the agriculture industry will be available to answer questions and provide product demonstrations.  If you are unfamiliar with equipment, in the market for new equipment or want an up close and personal experience – this is for you! See the product in action – from making and stacking bales to working the land.   Come and enjoy our day of outdoor activity and entertainment set against the backdrop of our field full of combines – be part of World Harvest for Kids!

We’d like to hear from you!
Do you have an interesting idea as to how the combines should come roaring down the field?  Do you have product you’d like to showcase at our farm show?  Please Contact us today.

We’ll see you at the first ever World Harvest for Kids Farm Show.

Creating A World Record Awareness

In 2006 we were told that there were too many variables in our record attempt, such as the type of crop and the number of acres, for it to be a Guinness World RecordTM, it was still however a world record time and from our research it still stands to this day. There are websites and blogs out there saying that a new record has been set but they all seem to have our pictures posted as the proof.
This year our record is being recognized by Guinness World RecordsTM, firstly because it is a lot easier to monitor and record, and secondly because it has already been created and set by another group, as we mentioned in last week’s blog.
Guinness World RecordsTM has a list of guidelines that are required for us to follow in order to set an official record. All our combines must be running simultaneously for at least 5 minutes, the type of combine is not important, but the specifications of the combines are required in documentation of the record, and any type of crop may be harvested. Another interesting fact is that they require a loud start and finish signal that will be recognized by all the participants, if you have any ideas on how this can be done feel free to send us your suggestions.
All that being said, this event is much more than an attempt to break a world record, we hope it brings awareness to the work that Children’s Camps International does in developing countries. We want this ministry to be effective for a long time to come and we believe World Harvest for Kids is a great way to make that happen. Please help us spread the word!
